We've got you covered

Amanda – Registered Nurse – Abilene, Texas

Hypocomplementemia Urticarial Vasculitis, Autoimmune Polyarthopy, Hypothyroidism, Connective Tissue Disease

A registered nurse came to Fields Law Firm after her Long Term Disability benefits were terminated. Our client had an active connective tissue disease that is manifested by joint pain, fatigue, and urticarial vasculitis. As a nurse, she could not perform the material duties of her occupation due to her disease. Her condition has limited her ability to function on a daily basis, and affects some activities of daily living.

Upon reaching out to the Fields Law team, our attorneys gathered all the evidence from the medical records and claim file to support our client’s case. We obtained the support of her doctors and filed an appeal to Unum, pointing out that there was no logical or objective interpretation of the medical evidence that could allow somebody to conclude that our client could perform the duties of her occupation. Unum reinstated disability benefits for our client, who was very happy with the outcome.

Ray – Senior Service Technician – Hungerford, Texas

Failed Back Syndrome, Chronic Pain

“A Senior Service Technician at a power plant in Texas had to stop working due to chronic pain and failed back syndrome. After two years of benefits, Prudential terminated his Long Term Disability, stating that at this point nothing would prevent him being able to work a sedentary job. Upon receiving this news, he decided he needed the assistance of the attorneys at Fields Law Firm to submit an appeal.

Our disability team acquired medical records, functional capacity evaluations, and a vocational abilities report. When all the supporting documentation was gathered, the Fields Law Firm attorneys submitted an appeal. On review, Prudential reversed the decision to deny our client’s Long Term Disability benefits. Our client received a check for all past due Long Term Disability benefits, and he continued to receive his disability benefits in the years following the decision.”

John – Foreman – Livingston, Texas

Diabetic Neuropathy, Back Pain

A foreman from Texas started having back pain and neuropathy in his legs and feet. He was diagnosed with diabetes and his doctor also recommended back surgery. His symptoms became too severe, so he was forced to stop working. He applied for disability benefits through Sun Life Financial but was denied based on an independent nurse’s opinion of his medical records.

Frustrated with the decision, he contact Fields Law Firm to assist with the appeal. The attorneys at Fields Law reviewed the denial documents and determined that the nurse’s assessment of our client’s medical records missed many key items. A doctor had referred our client to a cardiologist and back specialist just a few weeks prior to their denial letter.

Our attorneys wrote a strong appeal and ultimately Sun Life Financial overturned the decision, granting our client ongoing benefits and a lump-sum settlement for back-pay. Our client was relieved to have a steady source of income once more.
