We've got you covered

Penny – Customer Service Representative – Cincinnati, Ohio

Hand Tremor

A customer service representative for a large credit card company enjoyed working with fellow employees and an outstanding work environment with wonderful management. Unfortunately, she developed a significant tremor in her hands, which made using a keyboard extraordinarily difficult. Her managers were very patient with her despite her inability to work a full shift utilizing a keyboard. Eventually her manager suggested she apply for disability benefits until she could resolve the nagging tremor in her hands.

She applied for and initially received Long Term Disability payments, but as the condition persisted and defied doctors’ explanation and ability to diagnose and treat the condition, her Long Term Disability was eventually denied. The disability carrier argued that the tremors were caused by a pre-existing condition and therefore should not have been covered under the policy in the first place.

After several weeks of haggling with the disability carrier’s representatives, she became too frustrated and hired Fields Law Firm to review her case. Our attorneys immediately began working with doctors to obtain an opinion substantiating that, while the condition might have defied diagnosis, her condition was valid and clearly disabling which qualified her for disability payment. Our attorneys filed a lawsuit, which ultimately resulted in a settlement for a sum of money that enabled our client to pay her debts, and meet her financial needs.

Brenda – Medical Lab Technician – Washburn, North Dakota

Neuropathy, Diabetes, Leg Pain

A medical lab technician from Minnesota began experiencing leg pain associated with diabetes. Eventually, she began losing sensation in her legs. Sitting or standing for long periods became extremely painful and she was forced to stop working. Her insurer approved her for monthly Long Term Disability benefits. After a decade of receiving benefits, the insurance company stopped payment saying that she no longer fit their definition of disabled.

Shocked that her benefits had suddenly been cut off, she contacted Fields Law Firm for help. Our attorneys gathered all of the documents from the insurance company and our client’s doctors to compile strong evidence against the insurer. The insurance company based their denial on one doctor’s report which had multiple mistakes and typos. Our attorneys sent a strong appeal to the insurance company but the insurer did not reverse it’s decision and the Fields Law attorneys filed a lawsuit to fight for our client. During preparations for trial, our attorneys negotiated a generous lump sum settlement. Our client was pleased with the settlement check and happy with the professional advocacy Fields Law Firm provided.

Lloyd – Automation Technician – North Las Vegas, Nevada

Neck Pain, Back Pain, Facet Syndrome, Disc Displacement

A stage-show automation technician was in a car accident when another driver ran a red light. He experienced severe back-pain after the accident and imaging of his spine showed damage at multiple locations. He could no longer continue working because his job required lifting heavy automated components. His employer-provided disability insurer gave him monthly benefits for a couple of years, but then they suddenly stopped paying because he no longer fit their definition of disabled.

Unable to return to work, he contacted Fields Law for help. Our team obtained over 2000 pages of medical records and ordered updated reports from our client’s doctors to support the claim for benefits. Our attorneys compiled the evidence and sent a strong appeal to the insurer. The insurance company did not overturn the decision, so our attorneys filed a lawsuit in federal court. During preparations for a hearing, the Fields Law attorneys negotiated a generous lump-sum settlement. Our client was pleased with the check and happy with the professional advocacy from Fields Law.
