How to Request Vocational Rehabilitation
To receive vocational rehabilitation services, a Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC) must evaluate your situation and determine that you will benefit from vocational rehabilitation. You have the right to choose your own QRC, or your employer’s insurance company can refer you to one. The Department of Labor and Industry keeps an updated list of all QRCs and QRC firms in Minnesota.
Typically, your employer or its insurer starts the vocational rehabilitation process, but you can request it yourself by submitting a Rehabilitation Request. If your request is denied, you may still be able to receive vocational rehabilitation services through The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s Vocational Rehabilitation Unit.
What to Expect When You Meet With a QRC
When you meet with your QRC, they will:
- Conduct a rehabilitation consultation.
- Write a rehabilitation plan.
- Provide rehabilitation services.
- Guide the delivery of rehabilitation services by third parties.
